Women in Defence and Security Network – Speed Mentoring

The ASPI Women in Defence and Security Network and the Australian National University’s Gender Institute will hold a “speed networking” session for women in the defence and security sectors on 14 March in Canberra.

The event will give participants access to prominent women mentors working across various related fields, including intelligence and national security, cyber security and foreign policy. There are at least 27 currently confirmed mentors, including:

  • Amy Hawkins, Assistant Secretary Communications, Ministerial and Executive Coordination and Communication Division, Communication Branch, Department of Defence;
  • CMDR Cassandra Ryan, Mechanical Engineer, Royal Australian Navy;
  • Gai Brodtmann MP, Shadow Assistant Minister for Cyber Security and Defence, Australian Labor Party; and
  • Natasha Whitelaw, Former Special Assistant, UN Assistance Mission in Somalia.
