Peter Jeffrey CSC, RFD

Peter has had a career that has combined a variety of civilian public sector employment with long term service in the Army (both full and part-time). Peter has worked in geographic information systems, leadership and management education, and counter-terrorism policy appointments with the Queensland State Government.
Peter initially enlisted as a soldier in the infantry and was later commissioned into the Royal Australian Engineers. He has held a variety of postings in engineer units, training units and headquarters. Some notable postings have been: a year-long attachment to the Canadian Scottish Regiment, Victoria, British Columbia; Officer Commanding 11 th Field Squadron; and, Commanding Officer, Queensland University Regiment. In his capacity as a staff officer with Headquarters 1st Division, Peter had responsibility for guiding the development of the civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) capability. Peter is currently a brigadier in the Army Reserve and is the Commander of the Queensland-based 11 th Brigade.
Peter has been fortunate to have had broad operational experience, including: Technical Advisor to the Cambodian Mine Action Centre; Operations Officer, Monitoring Team-Arawa, Bougainville; Commanding Officer, Operational Search Battalion, Sydney Olympics; and Senior Military Advisor to the Special Representative of the Secretary General, United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq.
He was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross for his leadership of the Operational Search Battalion, and he was also awarded the United States Meritorious Service Medal for his cooperation with the Multi-National Force-Iraq.
