2017 Rules of Engagement Workshop

The APCML military node at Victoria Barracks, Sydney hosted 33 participants, mostly foreign students, for a residential workshop on Rules of Engagement from 17 – 21 July 2017. The workshop focused on the development and drafting of Rules of Engagement for a wide range of military operations. Participants were a mix of Legal Officers and military operators from Defence forces across the Asia Pacific Region and beyond, including Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, China, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand, Timor Leste, Myanmar, and Indonesia, to name a few. There were two observers from the International Committee for the Red Cross in Malaysia, and representatives from the Attorney-General’s Department and the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
